Aquatic Management

Aquatic Management
Water features can be a thing of beauty and enjoyment – but they can be an eyesore if not maintained properly. Advanced Turf Solutions works with individuals and property managers to develop environmentally sustainable plans for aquatic vegetation management. Our goal is to provide all the tools and information possible for your specific aquatic management needs. Advanced Turf Solutions carries everything needed to keep water fresh and clean – from algaecides to herbicides to dyes to aerators and fountains. Call your Advanced Turf Solutions today to discuss your aquatic management challenges. We can provide you the plan and products to do-it-yourself, or recommend a licensed professional to help.

Algaecides

Algaecides---Cutrine-Ultra

Cutrine Ultra

Used for hard-to-control algae. This chelated algaecide contains a non-ionic surfactant to provide enhanced penetration of cellular walls to provide improved control. Treated water may be used for swimming, fishing, drinking, livestock watering or irrigation immediately following application. Label & MSDS

Algaecides---K-Tea

K-Tea

K-Tea is a 12.9% copper hydroxide chelate algaecide (8% metallic copper equivalent) for slow moving or quiescent bodies of water including irrigation lakes and ponds. Effective against planktonic, filamentous and branched green algae as well as blue-green algae, diatoms and protozoans. Effective in hard water. No restriction on water usage following application at recommended rates. Label & MSDS

Algaecides---SeClear

SeClear

The first algaecide and water quality enhancer in one – SeClear is designed to replace routine algaecide programs. SeClear is 16.2% copper sulfate pentahydrate (4.1% metallic copper equivalent.) SeClear provides effective control of a broad range of algae species while reducing in-water phosphorous levels with each application. The result is longer lasting control, improved water quality and aesthetics with reduced maintenance over time. Treated water may be used for swimming, fishing, drinking, livestock watering or irrigation immediately following application. Label & MSDS

Aquatic Herbicides

Aquatic-Herbicides-Aquathol-K

Aquathol K

A liquid concentrate effective against a broad range of aquatic plants, Aquathol K has a wide margin of safety to fish and aquatic life. Do not apply before weeds are present. For best results, water temperature should be 50 degrees or higher. Treated water may be used for swimming, fishing, drinking, livestock watering or irrigation immediately following application with few exceptions (refer to label.) Label & MSDS

Aquatic-Herbicides---Clearigate

Clearigate

A chelated copper formulation containing an emulsified surfactant / penetrant, Clearigate provides highly effective control of coarse (thick cell-walled) filamentous algae and a variety of emergent, floating and submerged aquatic plants. Clearigate has no restrictions for water use after application. Label & MSDS

Aquatic-Herbicides---Reward

Reward

Reward is concentrated liquid aquatic herbicide effective against a wide variety of submerged, emergent and floating plants including duckweed, naiads and cattails. Reward poses virtually no environmental risk in aquatic applications because the herbicide concentration rapidly decreases as it enters the soil, vegetation and organic matter. See label for irrigation and water use restrictions following application. Label & MSDS

Aquatic-Herbicides---Sonar-AS

Sonar AS

An aquatic herbicide effective against a variety of aquatic plants, submersed, emergent and floating (including duckweed and watermeal,) Sonar provides excellent season-long control with spring application prior to or just after plant growth begins. Sonar has no restrictions on water usage following application at recommended rates. Label & MSDS

Aquatic-Herbicides---Sonar-Genesis

Sonar Genesis

The latest innovation in formulation of Sonar offers faster plant knock-down and better control. The ½ lb formulation is easier to use, measure and rinse. Sonar has no restrictions on water usage following application at recommended rates. Label & MSDS

Aquatic-Herbicides---Renovate-3

Renovate 3

A systemic aquatic herbicide used for control of certain submersed, floating and emergent plant species including woody plants in ponds, lakes and reservoirs. Effective against broadleaf aquatic species – will not harm monocot species such as cattails and grasses. Label & MSDS

Lake and Pond Dyes

Lakes-SupersChoice

Super’s Choice Blue or Black Lake Colorant

Highly concentrated and packaged in 1 quart containers for ease of use, Super’s Choice lake colorants improve the appearance of surface water. Treated water will not harm fish or wildlife. There are no use restrictions following application.

Lakes-AquaticBlue

Aquatic Blue

An organic water dye for use in lakes and ponds, Aquatic Blue improves the appearance of surface water. May be poured directly into the water at several locations to enhance dispersion. Treated water will not harm fish or wildlife. There are no use restrictions following application. Label & MSDS

Lake-BlackOnyx

Black Onyx

Used and made famous at one of the most well-known golf courses in the world, Black Onyx improves the appearance of surface water, producing a dark, reflective look. Label & MSDS

Water Quality Management

WaterQuality-Phosclear

Phosclear

Phosclear is not an aquatic herbicide. It is an Aluminum Sulfate based water treatment product intended to improve water quality by removing soluble phosphate from the water column and by precipitating out suspended dirt particles to clarify the pond or lake. Standard Alum is quite acidic and a large dose will lower pH and harm fish. The buffering agent in Phosclear holds pH steady and makes it safer to use while producing sparkling clear water. Label & MSDS

Lakes-SupersChoice

Super’s Choice Bacteria

A blend of beneficial pond bacteria, available in packets with pulverized barley straw powder, or in pucks, Super’s Choice naturally cleans large ponds and lakes by eliminating murky water, bottom sludge (muck,) odors and excess problem nutrients (phosphate and nitrate.) Safe for use in irrigation water. Packets or pucks can be thrown to various points around the body of water to enhance performance.

Surfactants & Adjuvants

Surfactants---Cide-Kick-II

Cide-Kick II

A non-ionic, water soluble, low viscosity, biodegradable wetting agent and activator, Cide-Kick II helps break down waxy leaf cuticles of plants for more effective herbicide uptake. Use with Reward, Renovate 3 and other herbicides for spraying emergent vegetation. Mix with algaecides for better control of tough algae species. Label & MSDS

Surfactants---TopFilm

TopFilm

The original aquatic approved sticker – Topfilm gives 3 weeks rainfastness. This dramatically different adjuvant can be mixed with any pesticide to improve rain-fastness and herbicide delivery, resulting in increased efficacy and less pesticide use / loss. Use with Reward, Renovate 3 and other herbicides for spraying emergent vegetation. Mix with algaecides for better control of tough algae species. Label & MSDS

Aerators and Fountains

fountains

Most lakes and ponds in the Midwest thermally stratify during summer and winter months with intervening spring and fall circulation (commonly called “turnover.”) During the stratified periods, oxygen demand is higher than oxygen production in deeper waters. This situation quickly leads to several problem situations in the upper layer of water, including: crowding, more competition for food, extreme fluctuation of pH, oxygen, carbon dioxide, temperature and other environmental factors. Aeration equipment helps prevent lake turnover as well and provide countless other benefits. There are many options to consider, contact your Advanced Turf Solutions representative today to find out which fountain or pond aerator is best suited for your situation.
